Experience a safer, healthier night’s sleep. The BioSleep range is completely non-toxic, and free from the harsh synthetics found in most bedding products, including some imported products labelled "pure wool" but which contain 10% chemical resin to hold their shape.
BioSleep premium quality pillows are light and comfortable, made from 100% pure Australian wool and 100% pure cotton. They’re an excellent choice for insomniacs, or anybody who simply wants a safe, chemical-free product and quality sleep. Made from the highest quality natural materials, BioSleep pillows are not chemically treated during production. Built to last, they provide warmth and comfort for years.
100% pure Australian wool means exactly that. BioSleep pillows contain AAA full-fleece wool from Australian sheep, which means the fibres are longer, stronger, and of exceptional quality. “Pure” wool bedding products are common in today’s market. Only BioSleep products possess exceptional quality and standards that set them apart. Expertly hand crafted and made with only the finest natural wool fibres, BioSleep products provide durability, chemical-free safety, and warmth. It’s all about quality. Ordinary wool bedding products contain shorter cuts from sheep’s fleece. Resin is then used to bond these fibres and prevent them from falling apart. You might recognise this manufacturing process: it’s the same one used to produce insulation batts. In the case of bedding products, however, constant movement causes the resins to break down, the fibres to shift apart, and the product to become less effective at storing warmth.
BioSleep products are far more durable. Manufactured without chemicals or synthetics, their fibres are built up in many layers and do not tear apart with age. This non-toxic durability defines the BioSleep range. Free from chemicals and binding resins, the wool in BioSleep pillows is laid in alternating directions so it won’t shift or separate. The result: a natural product that lasts for years.
Synthetic bedding fibres do not breathe. Breathable fibres are vital for comfort and hygiene, especially considering that adults can sweat (excrete waste through skin) up to a quarter cup of moisture overnight. The build-up of sweat and odour caused by synthetic bedding fibres is both unpleasant and uncomfortable. Even worse, it can become host to harmful bacteria. Dust mites thrive in synthetic bedding.
BioSleep products do not attract dust mites. The pure wool in each pillow is completely enclosed in 100% pure cotton, and therefore does not provide an environment in which dust mites can live. BioSleep products are used by asthmatics and people with sensitivities to dust mites.
Many people are sensitive to the chemicals commonly found in modern bedding products. Whether it’s binding resins, fire-retardant chemicals or synthetics, the cheap toxic substances found in many pillows and mattresses can be absorbed as vapour or by skin contact.
Commercially harvested wool, for instance, is scoured (washed) after shearing to remove lanolin and dirt. Then, sulphuric acid is used to clean out any vegetable matter still left in the wool. This final cleaning process – known as ‘carbonizing’ – leaves chemical residue that can place people with chemical sensitivities at risk. The wool in many mass-produced pillows, quilts and blankets undergoes this process.
The BioSleep range offers a safe alternative. Cleaned thoroughly with gentle soap, BioSleep products are manufactured without chemicals or synthetics. They are used by people with asthma, allergies, or multiple chemical sensitivities. Of course, they are also suitable for people who simply want a quality, chemical-free product.
Size specifications The pillow you choose should be based on your personal preferences. BioSleep pillows are available in four thicknesses:
Suggested care Caring for your BioSleep pillow is simple. Wool naturally absorbs moisture, so it’s a good idea to air your pillow once a month. Windy, sunny conditions are ideal. On a weekly basis, ‘fluff’ your pillow by holding its centre from either side and gently stretching it apart. This will make your pillow feel lighter and softer. Hand-wash your pillow in cold water with a wool mix or bicarb soda and rinse. This can be in a bath or trough. Squeeze out excess water but do not wring. Then, hang the pillow horizontally over a few strands of clothesline to dry. BioSleep pillows are suitable for P40 dry cleaning.
What is Woolmark? The Woolmark certification specifies that a product contains pure new wool. All Woolmark certified products undergo stringent testing for quality and performance. Continued, random testing ensures that quality is maintained. These high standards are established by The Woolmark Company, and ensure that Woolmark products are recognised throughout the world as a symbol of quality and reliability.
